A modular house is a house built in factory conditions, that is, indoors. Completed products are prepared for delivery and transported to their new locations where they will be assembled by expert teams. A modular home is not a mobile home; that is, it is a house that was built off-site, not on-site. It is built off-site and transported to the location where it will be installed. In some cases, it is not fully assembled at the factory. Certain parts are combined and the remaining parts are completed in the field. These houses are often called factory built, or prefab (short for prefabricated) houses.

Modular and prefab homes are not the same thing. Sometimes manufactured homes are not built on permanent foundations. This is an option that varies according to the intended use. Modular homes, sometimes (but not always) called portable homes, can be moved from one location to another. However, there are specific laws and regulations regarding such relocations. Special laws often favor modular homes. It is not possible to move a traditional style house. Even if possible, the cost is quite high. In other words, it is not an advantageous option from all perspectives. Because modular homes are built in factory conditions, they can be completed in a matter of weeks rather than years and months. Typical delays, mainly due to weather conditions, do not apply to modular homes. Because the installation of these houses requires less labor. At the same time, it is less affected by environmental conditions, as it can be built much faster than traditional structures. Thanks to the same feature, it is less affected by changing economic conditions and this reduces the cost. While building prefabricated houses, the environment is not harmed. From this point of view, we can call them environmentally friendly houses. It also allows you to be intertwined with nature as it can be built at the desired location.
