Topkapi Palace Museum Ticket Sales Booth

We took our place with our ticket sales booth in Topkapı Palace, which was used as the administrative centre of the 600-year-old Ottoman Empire for 400 years in Sarayburnu, Istanbul. The construction of the palace, which was started by Fatih Sultan Mehmet in 1465, was completed in 1478. Topkapı Palace, which hosted sultans until Abdülmecid II, serves as a museum today.

Ticket Sales Booth in Harmony with the Historical Texture

Topkapı Palace Museum ticket sales booth where Karmod Metropol cabin model is used stands out with its concept compatible with historical buildings. Metropol ticket booth cabin, which is planned as 32 m2 with 4x8 metre dimensions, was made ready for use in 5 days, 4 days for production and 1 day for field assembly.

The cabin, which has 5 movable windows on the front facade, can carry out 5 different ticket sales transactions at the same time. Guide service is also provided in the cabin along with ticket sales. Local and foreign tourists visiting Topkapı Palace Museum can visit the museum with a guide. Guidance service is provided in 16 different languages.

The cabin, which was disassembled and shipped in two pieces, was made ready for use by Karmod expert teams on the same day. Extra roof application was also made on the roof of the Metropol museum entrance ticket sales cabin.

About Topkapi Palace

Topkapi Palace is located in Sarayburnu in the Cankurtaran neighbourhood of the historical peninsula. The palace was built in 1478 by Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror. Topkapı Palace was the residence centre of the Ottoman sultans for 380 years until Sultan Abdülmecit built Dolmabahçe Palace. During the glorious years, the number of people living in the palace approached 4 thousand. The palace, which spread over an area of 700,000 m2 in the first years of construction, is 80,000 m2 today.

Although the palace people moved to Dolmabahçe and Yıldız Palace after the construction of the palace, Topkapı Palace did not lose its importance. After the evacuation of the dynasty, many state officials continued to live in the palace. The Department of the Cardigan-i Saadet, which contains the Holy Relics, continued to be the centre of attention during the month of Ramadan and its maintenance was carried out every year without interruption.

First Road to Topkapi Palace Museum

The opening of Topkapı Palace as a museum coincides with the reign of Sultan Abdülmecit. Firstly, the items in the Topkapı Palace Treasury were shown to the British ambassador of the period. As a tradition that started in this period, it became customary to show the old items in the Topkapı Palace Treasury to visiting foreigners. For this purpose, during the reign of Sultan Abdülaziz, glass showcases in the empire style were installed and the old artefacts in the treasury were started to be shown to foreign guests from these showcases.

On 3 April 1924, Topkapı Palace was affiliated to the Directorate of Museums of Antiquities and opened to the public. The Palace, which served under the name of Treasury Chamberlain's Office in the first period and then Treasury Directorate, today serves under the name of Topkapı Palace Museum Directorate. The full opening of Topkapı Palace as a museum took place on 9 October 1924. The sections that were put into service when it first became a museum are Mecidiye Pavilion, Baghdad Pavilion, Mustafa Pasha Pavilion, Kubbealtı, Arz Room and Hekimbaşı Room.

Topkapı Palace, which is one of the first stops of tourists visiting Istanbul, was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1985.

Who Operates Topkapı Palace Museum?
