Housing Project for Roma Citizens

The Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change continues to work on housing projects to be built in areas where Roma citizens live, covering 12 provinces. In this context, Yalova Municipality has also started work on urban transformation in Bağlarbaşı Neighbourhood.

In Bağlarbaşı Neighbourhood, where Roma citizens live, all risky houses in the neighbourhood will be demolished and new houses will be built.

Temporary Container House Project for Roma Citizens

In the urban transformation project to be carried out in Bağlarbaşı, we built temporary container houses in order not to victimise the citizens living in the neighbourhood. Construction of 60 container houses was completed within the scope of the project carried out in Kazımiye village of Yalova.

Container social houses, which will be used temporarily for two years during the Bağlarbaşı urban transformation project, were built on an area of 4,700 m2 in Kazımiye. Container houses in 2+1 plan with a size of 42 m² were used in temporary residences. The installation of the 60-housing project was completed in a short time like 30 days.

Reason for the Container City Decision

Since the urban transformation in Bağlarbaşı Neighbourhood will start in mid-2023, it was decided to demolish the risky houses in the transformation area. With thecontainer city project, it was aimed to prevent the citizens who wanted to evacuate their homes but had no shelter and could not find a house for rent. In this direction, it was decided to establish a container city under the leadership of Yalova Deputy Mayor Mustafa Tutuk. For the installation of temporary residences, the area in Kazımiye village Seyrantepe was preferred and work started. The installation of the houses produced by Karmod was completed within 30 days in March and April.

2+1 Container House in the Best Ergonomics for Sheltering a Family

The 2+1 container house used in the Seyrantepe container city project stands out with its interior plan ergonomics. You enter the house by passing through the veranda. There is a large living room at the entrance. The entrance to the lounge area is reserved for the kitchen. There is a window connection from the kitchen to the veranda.

When you move to the right from the centre of the hall, two separate rooms in two directions were included in the plan. There is a WC shower unit in the middle section. The 42 m2 container house has the best ergonomics for the daily accommodation needs of a family.

Bağlarbaşı Urban Transformation Project will bring a new identity to the region

Bağlarbaşı Neighbourhood Urban Transformation Project aims to transform the area into a more modern, safer and more livable environment. The neighbourhood, which will be completely renewed with urban transformation, will add value to Yalova's identity.

Bağlarbaşı Neighbourhood, which was included in the scope of transformation, was declared as a risky area by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change. Bağlarbaşı Neighbourhood urban transformation is carried out in cooperation with Yalova Municipality and TOKİ on an area of 100 decares. The tender for the construction of new houses was held by the Housing Development Administration on 25 January 2023 under the name of ‘Yalova Province, Central District, Bağlarbaşı Neighbourhood, Urban Transformation Project 717 Houses and 19 Shops and Infrastructure and Landscaping Work’.

New Houses are Being Built in 12 Provinces for Roma Citizens

The housing projects for Roma citizens announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan cover 12 provinces. The sample house designs of the houses to be built for the regions where Roma citizens live were announced by Murat Kurum, Minister of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change. Yalova Bağlarbaşı Neighbourhood Mass Housing Transformation Project is also carried out within this scope.
