Our Container Buildings Will Be Part of the COP31 UN Climate Summit

Our container buildings have been selected for COP31, the UN Climate Summit and the world’s largest gathering dedicated to climate issues.

We have produced container buildings specifically for the COP31 UN Climate Summit, which will take place in Antalya from 9 to 20 November 2026. During the summit, our buildings will serve as lounges for high-level participants arriving from countries around the world.

Sustainable Buildings Designed Around Zero Waste and Environmental Responsibility

Zero waste and environmental responsibility are central principles of the COP31 Climate Summit. At Karmod, we have produced buildings specifically for the Antalya summit, using environmentally friendly materials and manufacturing methods aligned with these principles. Our buildings were selected for use at the summit thanks to their weld-free manufacturing technology, bolted connections and fully recyclable materials. Choosing buildings that support zero-waste and methane-reduction goals is a commendable step by the summit organisers.

Seven Separate Buildings with Spacious Lounges

For this project, we prepared seven separate buildings at the summit venue using our flat-pack container model. The buildings were prefabricated at our modern Tuzla facilities and assembled on site by our professional teams.

The walls of these container buildings, designed specifically for the summit, incorporate custom steel-frame panels instead of standard panels. By combining a light-gauge steel wall system with a new-generation container design, we created a hybrid construction model. This hybrid system was developed to optimise the buildings’ performance under local climatic conditions.

Each building was designed with a floor area of 300 square metres and includes a spacious lounge. The layouts also feature men’s and women’s toilets, along with accessible toilet facilities. These custom-built container buildings will serve as lounges for high-level international participants throughout the summit. Another valuable advantage of their demountable design is that they can be reused at different locations after the event.

What Is COP?

COP stands for Conference of the Parties and is regarded as a landmark gathering for our planet. Held annually in different countries, it takes place under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), adopted in 1992. COP is the world’s highest-level global climate summit.

The summit brings together heads of state and government, ministers, scientists, business leaders and civil society representatives from around the world. COP is the primary platform for negotiating and advancing collective action against climate change. Its 31st meeting will be hosted by Türkiye in Antalya from 9 to 20 November 2026.
