Prefabricated House Project in Libya

Housing Designed for Urban Architecture and Lifestyle

Although the perception of housing is the same all over the world, the lifestyle and urban architecture in countries are the most important factors that shape housing design. For this reason, in countries where the minimal lifestyle is widespread, apartment types are preferred as 2+1, 1+1 or even 1+0. Apartment sizes are also shaped in this direction in the range of 35 to 70 m2. On the contrary, there are also housing preferences that appeal to more spacious desires. The smallest of these residences can start from 4+1 and reach up to 7+1 apartment types.

The housing project we realized in Libya is a reflection of the country's and the city's architectural choice. The prefabricated house we built in Derne, the port city of the country, was designed and produced in a 7+1 plan. The size of the house was realized as 320 m2. With its large size and plan, a house design suitable for the housing demand of the region was put in place with the project.

One sample installation of the houses to be produced within the scope of the project was made in the first stage. The production of the house specially designed for customer expectations in our Technical Office was realized in Karmod's Tuzla modern facilities. After the production, the house was shipped to Derne port by sea and delivered to the project site. After shipment, our expert supervisor team was ready on site. After the assembly started, the prefabricated house, whose rough installation was completed in 8 days, was made ready in a total of 35 days.

With our Derne housing project, the first installation of a two-storey house with a large and spacious space was made, creating a good example of horizontal architectural projects.

Housing Deficit in Libya Can Be Closed with Prefabricated Houses

Libya's long period of instability seems to have come to an end. There is a huge housing deficit in the country, where housing production completely stopped during the civil conflict. The housing deficit in Daraa, where we realized the sample housing installation, is much higher than the country average. As it will be remembered, the city was severely damaged in the flood disaster that occurred in Daraa in September 2023 due to the explosion of dams caused by Storm Daniel. According to statements, more than 11,300 people lost their lives and many houses were damaged.

Prefabricated houses with modular production provide great convenience in closing the deficit in Libya, which has a large number of housing needs. Prefabricated house production is carried out entirely on modern technology machine lines. The houses are shipped in accordance with international transportation standards and are installed on-site with the support of an expert assembly team. Prefabricated houses have the advantage of much faster installation, up to 70 percent faster than other housing models.
