Hatay Forestry Administration 45 Permanent Housing Project After Earthquake

On 6 February 2023, the sad earthquake that occurred in Kahramanmaraş deeply wounded us all as a country. While many of our citizens lost their lives, hundreds of thousands of people were left homeless. One of the institutions affected by the sad earthquake is Hatay Forestry Enterprise. The earthquake also affected the employees of the Forestry Enterprise. While some of them lost their lives, many employees lost their homes.

After the first hot days of the earthquake, when the pain of the earthquake was very fresh, the management of Hatay Forestry Enterprise, which contacted our company, stated that they wanted to solve the lodging housing problem of their personnel.

After the negotiations, the construction of 2+1 houses was started in four different locations in Belen, Serinyol and Dörtyol districts.

45 Houses in 45 Days

Field installation of 45 houses, which were manufactured within days after the project approval, was completed in 45 days. The fast installation advantage of prefabricated houses was utilised in the best way in this project. It was the best solution for long-lasting and safe prefabricated earthquake houses that were made ready for use in a short time. The use of the houses was allocated to İskenderun, Antakya and Dörtyol Forest Management employees. Hatay Forest Management employees and their families enjoyed the joy of having safe houses in a very short time.

2 Housing Types were used in the Post-Earthquake Housing Project

The 45 prefabricated houses built in İskenderun for Hatay Regional Directorate of Forestry were designed in 2+1 plan. Within the scope of the project, 33 of the houses produced in two different housing types are 51 square metres and 12 of them are 82 square metres in size.

Houses Built in 4 Different Locations

Hatay Forest Management houses were distributed according to the regions where the employees of the institution are concentrated. In this direction, prefabricated houses were built in 4 different locations. 25 houses were built in Belen district, 5 houses in Gedik neighbourhood, 5 houses in Dörtyol district and 10 houses in Serinyol district.

Safe Housing Solution After Earthquake Prefabricated House

The recent Kahramanmaras earthquake also showed that the most important need item after an earthquake is shelter. Hundreds of thousands of families suddenly became homeless after a momentary earthquake. The sheltering problem was met with tents in the first stage and earthquake container houses in the following days. While temporary shelter units were prepared on the one hand, on the other hand, works for the construction of permanent houses started.

Prefabricated houses are among the best solutions in the construction of permanent houses after the earthquake. The most important reason for this is that prefabricated houses have two important advantages. The first is that they are produced with all materials in modern facilities without the need for a field. The second important advantage is that prefabricated houses can be built within days with the advantage of bolt-nut and plug-in system.
