We built a faculty with hybrid steel system for the university in Nigeria, originally named Alex Ekwueme Federal University.
The 764 m2 school building started to be used as the Faculty of Engineering and Technology of the university. The school building, which was pre-produced in Karmod modern facilities by using hybrid steel structure system, was shipped to Nigeria and installed in Alike Ikwo, Ndufu in Ebonyi State. With the project, as Karmod, we have added a new one to the school buildings in Nigeria.
Nigeria Alex Ekwueme Federal University building was constructed with hybrid steel structure system developed by Karmod. The main feature of the developed model is that structural heavy steel system and light steel structure system are used together. With the hybrid steel structure system, large interior spaces and high elevation buildings can be designed and constructed in the desired span.
Steel buildings, which stand out with the advantage of high structural safety, also have the advantage of fast installation. Within the scope of the project, we delivered a two-storey 764 m2 school building with 9 classrooms in a short period of 40 days.
Conventional (structural) steel structures have much superior static capabilities and ease of application compared to other systems. By synthesising the structural heavy steel system with the light steel model, we have made high security buildings economical at the same time. The hybrid steel system will be among the models that will be especially preferred in many projects in the future with its safety and economy.
In the Alex Ekwueme University building, where 150 students will receive education, there are 9 classrooms as well as 3 workshop classrooms that are special laboratories.
One of the prominent features of the engineering and technology faculty building we built for Alex Ekwueme University is its sustainable use of environmentally friendly energy. With the solar solar energy panels integrated into the steel building roof system, the school produces the energy it consumes with an environmentally friendly system.
The institution, originally named Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu Alike Ikwo, is located in Alike Ikwo, Ndufu, Ebonyi State. The university was first established in 2011 and was named Federal University Ndufu Alike Ikwo until 2 February 2018. On this date, the school was named after Dr Alex Ekwueme, Nigeria's first civilian Vice President.
Established on 438 hectares of land, Alex Ekwueme University is one of the leading universities in the country with 10,000 students and 2,230 staff.
