Building Safe Educational Facilities with Steel Structures

We continue to create safe educational buildings through our steel construction systems. We have completed another project in this field in Mersin. The custom-designed building we constructed in the Anamur district features 12 classrooms and will serve as a kindergarten.

Designed as a two-storey building by Karmod’s technical office, the project was planned with the Turkish Ministry of National Education’s building standards in mind. Details such as entrances, children’s washbasins and toilets were designed to meet the needs of preschool-age children.

The School Was Ready in 40 Days

Designed and manufactured with 12 classrooms, including dedicated activity rooms, the school’s on-site assembly was completed in just 40 days. With fast production and assembly, steel construction systems offer practical solutions to building needs.

Considering the schools in Türkiye awaiting replacement due to earthquake risks, this system offers significant convenience. Many primary, middle and high schools can be rebuilt using steel construction, even during the summer holidays. Our 19-classroom Sultangazi Steel School project, completed in 72 days, is one of the best examples of this approach to renewing educational buildings. Urgent needs for additional classrooms that arise over time can also be met quickly using this safe system.

Fully Safe Steel School Buildings

Our children’s safety is a priority for all of us. This becomes even more important when considering the earthquake resistance of school buildings. The ability to create fully safe structures using steel construction offers a major advantage for schools. The system helps keep children safe within the school building.

Anamur Private Kindergarten Project

Manufactured and built using a steel construction system, the kindergarten has a total floor area of 654 m² across two storeys. It contains 12 classrooms, including dedicated activity rooms. Eight are kindergarten classrooms, while the remaining four were designed and equipped for special activities. Classroom dimensions were planned with the Turkish Ministry of National Education’s criteria in mind.

Other areas include dining rooms, sleeping rooms, a principal’s office and a teachers’ room. The washbasins and toilets inside the school were specially prepared for children. Their installation heights were tailored to the school’s needs. Separate washroom facilities are also available for administrators and teachers.

Decorative painting was applied both inside and outside the kindergarten to give the building a distinctive appearance. Carefully selected colour combinations and painting techniques helped create a visually recognisable design.
